Gathering inspiration from Swanage

Today, I haven’t drawn anything, we did pass the shop this morning and greeted Jo who was back on shift. Instead today has included a walk along the beach this morning watching people and their dogs out enjoying the sunny weather to finish 2020. I always like to see how people use the beach as it provides scenarios more often for the background of pictures but how my work can reflect the life of the beach throughout the year.

The interaction between waves and dogs, great to observe
Progress stopped by water

On the way home from the walk I took some photos of Swanage architectural features I may draw.

The Arcade – formerly Earthlights Cafe, now Swanage Pizzas and Burgers plus cafe in day time
Building with interesting layouts learnt from estate agents adverts
Kayak attire

This afternoon I observed the bay from the water and that sitting near to the water surface that come with kayaking and meeting others out on SUPs and rowing in a gig. It also offers a different view of the aves heading into the shore and where the seabed can be seen and where plant life lies below. Also you see the town from a different perspective which has helped in pieces previously and I am sure will do so more in the future too.

I live in Purbeck, Dorset and in Swanage – lots of natural features to observe and draw but also many human features to notice and record too. I am lucky to be able to do this.

Wishing all readers of this blog a healthy and happy 2021.
