So, a bank holiday with a forecast of strong winds and rain in the mid afternoon – would the shop get visitors / customers?
I went in this morning and logged then put out the new original art postcards I drew yesterday, one sold in the morning to my first customer of the day. A series of sales for both artists.
I took time between visitors / customers to sit outside and draw – the outfit attracting people on more than one occasion. I added to the sealife wooden box, added more to the blue shop coat, drew a new original art postcard from a recent photo of,one of the regular fishing boats in the bay.
I chatted with children, parents, adults. I sold cards, original postcards., prints.I drew a smiley face picture for a toddler who came in with mum looking at the art,Anne later gave his brother a postcard for great behaviour and interest while in the shop. I had some great conversations about art materials and using ProMarkers with one young lady who already loves them and a gentleman who took a set to tryout. Some great conversations where I got to share my love of art. This afternoon later on a young man in his early teens came and bought a Rescue print which he had clearly earmarked at an earlier date.
As the weather got windier this afternoon I worked on a pen and ink piece commissioned for an anniversary this week. I will finish this tomorrow so it can be given on the anniversary, a quick turnaround for a couple who have bought and commissioned pieces previously and been great advocates of my work.
Today, was a good day for sharing my love of art, drawing and life. It was also a personal day for me as it was the anniversary of my dad’s birthday. He was a draftsman of great skill with fantastic calligraphy skills, his engineering background seen in drawings he did and watercolours that he returned to in retirement. My art interest came late but luckily overlapped before he died in 2017. I wish that we had more time to sit and draw together because it would have been a shared interest.<div class='sharedaddy sd-block sd-like jetpack-likes-widget-wrapper jetpack-likes-widget-unloaded' id='like-post-wrapper-123416164-5277-609d24967acee' data-src='https://widgets.wp.com/likes/#blog_id=123416164&post_id=5277&origin=andyknillart.com&obj_id=123416164-5277-609d24967acee' data-name='like-post-frame-123416164-5277-609d24967acee'><h3 class="sd-title">Like this:</h3><div class='likes-widget-placeholder post-likes-widget-placeholder' style='height: 55px;'><span class='button'><span>Like</span></span> <span class="loading">Loading...</span></div><span class='sd-text-color'></span><a class='sd-link-color'></a></div>
