Today my art skills have not been used as much as my organisational ones. I have recently bought, at last, a range of marker wallets to contain the promarker set that I keep in the shop and hope to use again for an ‘art for fun’ table.
So today was a case of separating pens into their respective trays which were a bit jumbled and then subdividing some colours into for example – blue and cyan; green, yellow, orange, red and magenta… Then sequencing them in numerical code order, testing the marker and placing each into a wallet which was then identified for its contents using gelly roll white to write the wallet colour contents on the spine and front cover. Also noting the information in one of my art notebooks.
A task that is mentally tiring. I spent two sessions working on this: one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
I had emailed my printer last night to place a reprint order on three different prints where sales have depleted my reserve stock. I only order prints in very small quantities at a time but as I can get reprints quickly I don’t have to hold a large stock of each.
I decided I needed to draw so that my live art in progress sign could be used. So a new wooden chest and a new pirate chest as I only have one example left on sale. The theme was one of my favourites which is to combine a map showing an island, not necessarily with a treasure x. This sits on the table in the captain’s cabin at the stern (rear) of the ship and the view out of the windows are of the island itself in profile. This uses some of my cartography knowledge as a geographer. I have completed a lot of the detail but have to add more to the timbers and plank detailing and shadows. I will do this on Saturday.
We also had several visitors mainly before lunch. Some adding to their collection of homewares already gifted to them by the other artist – I can’t compete with that as I have not gone down the homewares path with my own art. A good discussion with another former geography teacher. A family with young children. A good discussion about markers with a tattoo artist who specialises in Japanese based styles. So a varied day.
Completed with a calm water walk home afterwards.<div class='sharedaddy sd-block sd-like jetpack-likes-widget-wrapper jetpack-likes-widget-unloaded' id='like-post-wrapper-123416164-5376-6102309f0acdf' data-src='https://widgets.wp.com/likes/#blog_id=123416164&post_id=5376&origin=andyknillart.com&obj_id=123416164-5376-6102309f0acdf' data-name='like-post-frame-123416164-5376-6102309f0acdf'><h3 class="sd-title">Like this:</h3><div class='likes-widget-placeholder post-likes-widget-placeholder' style='height: 55px;'><span class='button'><span>Like</span></span> <span class="loading">Loading...</span></div><span class='sd-text-color'></span><a class='sd-link-color'></a></div>
