Today was a wet day, until 4.45 pm no shop visitors inside except for family and shops on. A late sale including one of today’s drawings. I had decided to draw a variety of A6 card pieces from old photos mainly 2014 which caught my imagination.
This van was on the South Bank in London as a food stall. A van design that reminds me of Truffaut films and when Citroën had more quirky vehicles like the 2CV etc.
This came from a photo I took around the school building I worked at the time in 2014 in Romford. I used a series of photos around the building to build a treasure trail to find and practice noticing things and then made into a digital poster. This today caught the eye of one of my late visitors and sold just showing you can never predict what or when things will sell,
This came from a digital poster where I had posed the question West Bay or Broadchurch as it was called in the crime series starring David Tennant and Olivia Coleman.
Also a distinctive piece of Jurassic coast geology in these cliffs that are prone to a number of large cliff falls each year.
A group of rowing boats / dinghies / tenders in Mevagissey harbour in Cornwall. We had a holiday cottage very close to the harbour and I spent a lot of time watching the boats and taking photos as I found them and the life of the harbour fascinating. I wasn’t drawing at that time.
Again based in Mevagissey – on that holiday I had my first outing in a Cornish pilot gig rowing boat after seeing them out in the harbour. I joined them in a practice row from a local bay. I found it very difficult and caught several oar crabs. I then didn’t see Mevagissey rowers again until they came to row at one of the Swanage clubs regattas here in Dorset.
The reason my visitors came in was actually because one of them had noticed my pith helmet and asked to take a picture to show a friend – quite used to this, it turned out that I also knew the friend both through our son who lives here and the friend is also in this years pantomime cast too. Swanage – it’s a small world.
I also received a belated parcel which was Christmas present our older son had ordered – a Professor Elemental scarf and some tea as well.
Two days off now and then the next fortnight the shop will open Tue, Wed and Fri only as on Saturdays the pantomime has two performances so I will be saving my energy for those and not opening for just a couple of hours in the morning which is when the shop tends to be very quiet anyways.<div class='sharedaddy sd-block sd-like jetpack-likes-widget-wrapper jetpack-likes-widget-unloaded' id='like-post-wrapper-123416164-7217-61f447123c6b6' data-src='https://widgets.wp.com/likes/#blog_id=123416164&post_id=7217&origin=andyknillart.com&obj_id=123416164-7217-61f447123c6b6' data-name='like-post-frame-123416164-7217-61f447123c6b6' data-title='Like or Reblog'><h3 class="sd-title">Like this:</h3><div class='likes-widget-placeholder post-likes-widget-placeholder' style='height: 55px;'><span class='button'><span>Like</span></span> <span class="loading">Loading...</span></div><span class='sd-text-color'></span><a class='sd-link-color'></a></div>
