Draw, seek inspiration, draw again

Last night I drew an A6 study from some photos provided by a friend of the Sailability boats at Ringwood on the edge of the New Forest. Alex had told me how colourful the boats were. So I sketched out one of the photos in my relax before bedtime slot. I posted my progress of the pen and ink piece.

This morning I gathered my ProMarkers and added colour to the piece and am pleased with my first piece of these boats which once travel and sailing is possible I hope to go and watch and draw in situ.

The work of Sailability to allow people with a variety of needs to sail independently or as members of a crew is inspiring to me and I have seen in a previous job the joy for some people being able to access open water for themselves be that in a canoe, motorlaunch or sailing.

Other sailing inspirations that I have blogged about on my personal blog http://www.mishmashlearning.wordpress.com include Pip Hare currently in the fleet of the Vendee Globe solo unassisted round the world race. Also the Ineos Britannia team currently in New Zealand co petting in The Prada cup as a decider to see who will challenge New Zealand for TheAmericas Cup. I sketched a second picture this one from an image on Instagram with one of the camera helicopters filming their fifth consecutive victory in the round robin series of races against Italy and the USA.

This morning while out walking we took a breather on a bench up from the coast path in Durlston Country Park to the south of Swanage. I sketched the profile of the Isle of Wight from The Needles south to the bottom edge of the island. This I will add colour to at home having taken a reference photo for colours of the vegetation including the gorse with its bright yellow aniseed flowers.
