Colour
Today is day 18 for Marchmeetthemaker and the prompt today is colour. Obviously from previous posts I use colour in quite a lot of my work. When I am out and about I often dress in quite dull colours but when on duty at the shop or art events out comes the logo pith helmet and one of my hand drawn outfits to stand out.

The Art for fun suit is all the better for the drawings by years 3 and 4 at Swanage Primary School as it shares their work as well as my own and the sense of enjoyment in art. Sitting outside the shop at a quieter time with a box of colourful pens tends to attract attention too.

My friend Alex who first told me about the boats at sailability had told me about the colourful combination of sails and boats. I look forward to drawing these as they sail in front of me rather than just from photos.

In The Courtyard Studio there are two artists, my work is by far the most colourful and this is my brightest area of the shop – new plans will include painted sections of my work in the shop and window vinyls that link into my colour scheme to match my logo.

This was the recipients favourite view combined with the colours seen in some of our spectacular local sunsets.

I have a range of Posca pens in up to four different width nibs in 16 colours. I will extend my range of colours as I use Posca markers more.

This was an Adult Art for Fun session I ran at Swanage library. The range of 160+ colours was treated npby gasps of surprise and delight, the same as when I have used my markers with children.

The colourful council beach huts on Shore Road, Swanage which have a mixture of love / hate reactions. Their brightly coloured doors make them stand out.

My ProMarker stocktake chart and guide when drawing new pieces. You can use supplied sheets from Winsor and Newton available online, I tend to make my own A2 sheet table which I can then refer to for my own work or giving suggestions to others.

My best commercial client to date. Colour, especially pink is important of course. I became known to the staff in the Goat because I was often drawing mono pen and ink sketches.

When I worked for Wareham Boat Hire in 2017 to 2019 I would often sketch the scenery and different boats on the river Frome. This particular day a man asked if it was ok to drive into the river using our slipway, a day never to forget and had to be drawn.
