No water
Day 14 of Marchmeetthemaker and another weekend chance to create my own prompt which today is to look for pieces of art drawn of scenes away from the water which has become so important in my Purbeck life.

This was drawn from the drive of my friend Nick. I love the silver birches and drew this after going for a walk one week and gave it to him and his wife Jane as a gift. This has been followed up by a piece from below a silver birch through my sister in the last week.

S was a sort of freestyle project drawn over two days duty in the shop during a quiet end to December 2020 as I had no hat examples to display in the shop about what could be done with my custom hand drawn hats. Once the shop reopens there will be some more examples drawn and available in the shop in addition to any commission projects.

One of my improved tree detail pieces that also included March 2018 snow upon Houns Tout where we rented at the time. The outbuilding was far too cold to use as a studio in the winter.

This as well as the previous piece are popular sellers as prints and cards. People comment on the fact that they like that my work isn’t all about bright blue summery skies. Purbeck is a stunning location all year round and I think should be celebrated.

An open space area in Cambridge which my youngest sister Kate used to live on the corner of. An early pen and ink piece that became one of my first greeting cards.

This was specified by the client so I needed to do some research which is one of the nice things about producing topics for commissions that I have never drawn before.

A simple piece and when I drew this, at the timeI was drawing the castle quite often and could draw it without reference to any pictures.

One of my novelty titles. The title says exactly where it is from. An advantage of living in the Corfe catchment when we first moved to Purbeck.

I like to draw on these wooden boxes from ‘The Works‘ . They have had a variety of themes and they offer a challenge with some of the topics I choose. Eventually each of the wooden box designs sells although sometimes it takes a while.

Living up on the limestone ridge, as we did, we used to drive the top road. The view except on misty days is spectacular and this piece celebrated that. The Purbeck valley is something that is celebrated by photographers much more than local art except the castle of course.
So there we have it a sample of pictures without the sea.
