Self isolation is actually turning into a good time out but creativity opportunity for me helped of course by the fact that my symptoms have been mild and ones I have had many times before with asthma related chest infections – so healthier again today, virtually no tickly cough.
Three bits of art today:

Making a Lino print. Anne and I attended sessions with Swanage Art Workshop (soon to be my new landlords) from 2017 to 2018. We tried a variety of art types, most of which didn’t catch me attention – Lino,printing did and in fact I was then gifted an Essdee set and some extra inks the following Christmas which has sat in a drawer until today.
I have a number of kit pieces and some pieces of Lino from the sessions and today I selected one of the hessian backed pieces about 7” by 5” in size.
Yesterday’s historic boats provided a seed of an idea so a hand drawn composite of three different sailing vessels within Swanage Bay. No prep just straight in,a bit detailed for a first go in about 3 years, yes of course it was but heh it’s for fun.
Stage two the cutting out and Lino cutters and not bleeding everywhere. So I sat at a table with a solid stance and the cutter shield to protect my hands…no I sat on the sofa with Lino sheet on a hardback sketchbook. Good news on,y one minor nick. So a 7by 5 piece will involve a lot of cutting – too much, would I become distracted and put off rest of this stage? No I had breaks but I got it done and this afternoon by about 3.30 I was ready for the ink and print stage.
Stage 3 – safely inking up without ink on the carpet, this time Idid move to the solid table and coverings in the study/studio. Hand printing onto copy paper, then into my current sketchbook (Kraft paper) and onto an envelope – all printed dry and only a light plastic stock to go over the paper and Lino plate.
Stage 4 – the outcome – there’s going to be more printing and I will produce some that I feel good enough to sell and as I won’t be sharing a shop with someone who does printing as their art production model I am free to try whatever I like. So some pictures…
