Earnings in context
To put art earnings in context
I joined Purbeck Artisan Yard in March 2018, 13 months into my new job as an artist so my work would be available all year round. I left the Yard in October 2020 as my commitment to having a shop in Swanage meant I had to balance up relative sales against time input.
So I was in PAY for 2 years and 7 months.
In my fourth month at The Courtyard Studio in Swanage I exceeded the sales I had taken in total at PAY.
In my second month and after 37 open shop days at AndyKnillArt Studio I have exceeded the sales I took in total at PAY.
Looking back at my records;
It took 13 months to first take this much in sales.
Another 10 months to earn the same amount again.
Then 7 months.
Then 7 months.
Then 3 months.
Then 7 months through covid.
And so on. I have now taken almost 11 times that amount in sales in just under 5 years.
Thank you to all those that have bought my work and continue to do so. Being a shopkeeper has brought me much faster sales and I really appreciate it.
Andy
