Thursday – another busy rest day

So no shop but several plans. Our kitchen project home is drawing to an end of the fitting stage and the electrician was here for most of the day. We started with a trip to the recycling centre with items from the old kitchen and quite a lot of cardboard packaging.

Off towards Studland along Shore Road when we saw a friend and her dog so a stop for a chat. Also saw kayakers setting out further up the bay.

What another beautiful and mild November day
Westerly breeze meant a calm bay – maybe I would kayak this pm

Then a stop on Ulwell Road for some photos to help one of the commissions I am working on at present including this view back to the bay.

Looking back down towards Swanage Bay

Our aim was Studland and Knoll beach – we started with a cafe visit and drank our coffees outside – most of us were distracted by the Sea King helicopter over near Old Harry and Ballard Downs. It was not clear if a rescue was taking place.

Sea King search and rescue helicopter hovered over the edge of the downs for quite a while.

Sea sculling lesson
We headed down the beach towards Middle Beach and saw the sights above.

I paddled my feet in the water – sea sculling is an activity I still want to try at some point. We then returned along the shore past Knoll beach NT and on as far as the Naturists sign and back. There were some dogs and owners enjoying the freedom of the beach and some walkers. I was as usual the only one paddling their feet.

Back to the cafe for some lunch inside with the view

Then some shopping for books for me linked to OS maps and walks across Dorset. We then returned home, my energy levels were flagging so I decided kayaking wasn’t a good idea.

I audited my markers at home – 134/201 possible colours plus some spares to take to the shop tomorrow. Then the first meal cooked in the new kitchen.

This evening we went up to The Scott Arms in Kingston near where we used to live at Hillview for the opening evening of Josh Hollingshead’s art exhibition. They have exhibited a wide range of his pieces including ones that we haven’t seen before. It was great to see Josh discussing his art with people and looking so relaxed – honoured to be friends.
