Art for fun goes …
During Swanage carnival week Art for Fun was proving very popular – see last post re passing 700 participants.
On theFriday (August 5th) we hosted 29 people. In a mad moment on Saturday August 6,final shop day of carnival week I made a sign challenging a record attempt to beat30 people in a day.
It was also one of the hottest days so far this summer so thought it unlikely. Well, not only did we beat 30 in a day we hosted 64 people of all ages. The total number for the year rose to 802 and 154 for 5 shop days in Carnival week.
Posting the week’s drawings was a big challenge that include 16 posts of photo grids and a TikTok clip including all the grids.
Since then Tuesday and Wednesday this week temperatures are rising again and we have hosted another 44 people.
Unfortunately today I have tested positive for covid so will lose at least Fri and Sat and quite likely at least Wednesday of shop opening. As the heat has been rising art for fun was almost becoming a victim of its own success. Any suggestions that I should expand the idea – forget it.
I must learn to curb my competitive instinct so long dormant in setting records – I want to be able to enjoy my art and shop time and have plenty of time with people that try art for fun and not make it into a competition for ever higher numbers.
