Art for Fun grows in popularity

Today,Wednesday August 30th was my last trading day of the month before the shop celebrates its 2nd birthday on Friday September 1st.

A habit from my teaching career is the collection of data to see if I can see patterns in the business. Obviously I keep accounts for income and expenditure; I also use a spreadsheet system to Jo it or stock and when card and print stocks need reprints.

Art for fun – my free activity where I encourage people to try drawing using the same ProMarker pens that I use to create my artworks. A key focus for me and something I had previously offered in a limited capacity in Purbeck Art Weeks 2018 and 2019 at my Open Studio at the house we used to rent up on Houns Tout. I have also run sessions during events and my duties when I used to have my art in the Purbeck Artisan Yard, Wareham. Then when I shared The Courtyard Studio – Art in the heart of Swanage I had a table I used inside the shop as outside space was so limited. 21 Commercial Road, where I have been since September 2021 offered an outside area at the front of the unit that I could utilise.

I knew the activity would be popular if people found out hour it but the numbers of drawing sessions hosted has surprised me as well as others. I was pleased with the numbers in Year One. The additional numbers this week have been truly astounding.

Tales of children coming to Swanage and asking to revisit the arty / drawing man / Andy has been recounted by many repeat visitors.

Here are the figures for Years 1 & 2.

How will the 3rd year compare? Keep following to find out.
