The power of sharing
This morning PBCG (Purbeck Business & Community Group) that I joined last year were having a morning zoom meeting so that members who can’t do the evening zoom meetings could chat. I didn’t expect to make it as it was at 8am, not a time I see to often these days.
Waking about 8ish I joined the meeting just before 9 and contributed. Sharon our efficient organiser has already sent out the minutes so I had a chance to catch up with what had been said by others who had spoken before I joined the meeting.

When I joined last year I found the camaraderie good but started to feel that as I was not relying on my business for my living I wasn’t in the same category as the others and pulled back. After lockdown however I changed my mind, I got a lot out of sharing ideas and being aware what other local businesses were doing and we could all contribute ideas that the others may not know about, even me. I have only belonged to the group in the age of zoom rather than face to face meetings although I have now met many members of the group in town or at each other’s businesses in between lockdowns.
One of the group – Anna who is a yoga teacher was being interviewed on an Instagram group last week called https://www.instagram.com/unitoshine
I then followed and commented on some posts. Laure who runs the group has now asked to interview me and so on Monday January 18th at 18:00 GMT I will be interviewed and it will be available on IGTV afterwards.
This will be interesting to do. I have been interviewed about the Artisans on the Beach event previously by a local video site and have also spoken about my art on Purbeck Coast radio. I hope the interview proved to be interesting and useful to others starting new businesses.

I find sharing / networking interesting as you gather bits of information from a range of people and hear about opportunities you may not have come across previously. I am using the same principle to connect with the sailing and water sports communities going forwards to provide my major theme for 2021.
Do you network?
If you do, where or how do you connect with others?
If you don’t are you interested in some ideas? Feel free to ask.
