A time for calm, a time for reflection
The other week I was scrolling through Instagram and came upon an interview between a french lady and Anna Barrow, a yoga teacher (amongst many other diverse roles) talking about Anna’s business. Anna is in the Purbeck Business and Community Group that I also joined last year.

I paid interest as I come across so many people offering free booklets or paid workshop and materials on how to run your business better and to be honest who knows whether they are any good. I have downloaded and read some free materials but usually learn only a little as many of the approaches involve financial goals that I don’t have for my business and work demands that I also don’t have.
So I read more of the Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/unitoshine and commented on some posts, then Laure (previously mentioned French lady came back to me and asked if I would be ok to be interviewed about how my business got going. We chatted online yesterday (Saturday 16) and formed a plan for our online chat which will be live in IGTV (InstagramTV) at 6pm on Monday 18th on Laure’s account / me as @andy.knill.
The discussion yesterday was good for me as I had to reflect on how I started, why in my mid 50s did I go from teaching geography to being an artist, links to my mental health which are a key part of my back story as some of you know. I am looking forward to doing this and hope it may help someone out there considering a change of line or a semi retired hobby / business for themselves – you decide.
Well today we drove the furthest we have in months to do a click and collect shop, we left the relative comfort of our surroundings but in a controlled manner. In business we all take risks at different points and make decisions that we feel comfortable with or take risks. Recent days have seen me reflect on this more, I am not trying to really drum up business online for my art, I am drawing several times a week, I am noticing things around me but there is no rush – but of course I am in the lucky position that I can do that.
At the moment sat with some tea and the bay below looking calm, I feel that way too.
