Mojo of creativeness returns…
Last night in my local business network I introduced my Offer as Member offer of the Month – a 20% discount on my commissioned original greetings cards so £4 instead of the regular price of £5. This morning I woke to messages from five of the group and six cards ordered, 5 for Mother’s Day in the UK on March 14th and an 18th birthday card for this Sunday.
First I needed to reply and contact each of them for theme ideas and some discussion was then necessary and several ideas were settled on. This was already more thinking creatively than the last fortnight. The most immmediate card, the 18th would come back to me.
I got straight on with the first Mother’s Day card and researched some more possible scenes and selected a mixture of these plus photos giving me the general colouring of three cats owned by the client’s mum. Initial line drawing went well and then onto adding detail especially in walking, path and planting. The cats were incorporated into the scene. Before I went for my walk at lunchtime I sent the progress to date to the client who was very pleased. On return from my walk I finished the card and we arranged when the client will collect it from me later this week in town and pay me.
On my walk I had visited the viewpoint in town, a local gardens area where the two scenes client 2 wanted stemmed from. I took some phone and camera shots and also started to see how I could use trees to frame one of the pictures.
This afternoon, faster than I expected, both scenes were drawn and colour added and the client paid me by bacs. Tomorrow I deliver their two cards. I then managed to do some work on my larger commission that is developing with larger trees in.
Tomorrow the plan is to work on the larger piece more, start the 18th card as I came up with an idea the client has agreed with. If there is time I will start the next Mother’s Day card too.
A fellow local artist when I shared what I was doing questioned how I had managed to go from initial idea to client discussion, plan and drawing to final piece so quickly. I realised there wasn’t an obvious answer but just when I have my creative mojo on I am prolific in my output.
So, a very successful day with other posts for Good morning from Swanage, Vitamin sea clips, March meet the maker day 2 and my commission card work put out there too and a tik tok clip including today’s creativity as I know the clients and recipients are not on there.
Let’s see how tomorrow goes, but not procrastinating was a very conscious decision today and it felt good being so productive again.
