Job(s)
Marchmeetthemaker day 23 prompt is job(s) and the list could be endless almost as a small business. Today in my artist role I have been:
Shopkeeper – day 2 of decoration my areas within the shop, sea layer second coat added. Cliff section in white one coat done on both sections. Tomorrow after a zoom training session linked to a community environmental project I will put a second coat of white and then look at adding the grass and sand layers subject to time and energy.
While at the shop I have spoken with more local businesses in our part of town, ie. off main streets about the idea of a community trader approach to marketing / publicity at a level we can afford. Community lead being taken by me because I think it’s important.
So decorating in shop will lead to display rearranging and possibly even making some new display fittings and the option to use a folding table in the future (looking quite distance currently) to allow an Art for fun table in the shop again on my shifts. Allowing myself to go and work in shop on my shifts over the next three weeks to bring it together ready to welcome visitors back on April 12 or date we can reopen.
Back at home in the studio I have a commission started requiring more artist input. In two weeks we come to the end of the tax year and making sure my records are all together. Completing my accounts for 2020/21 and setting up format for 2021/22 records.
I have art media stick at home and in the shop and will need to decide where to keep it, it will remain split but I will need to ensure records are up to date. Packaging materials – reduce size of rolls kept in shop at any one time. Investigate starch based cellophane alternative / pockets for cards, prints and original art to develop my reduction in plastics (single use) in shop.
I have Christmas cards for 2022 to design and send to printer once into April and possibly another seasonal offer this year, details withheld until it comes to fruition.
I could waffle on about all the different jobs / roles I do under the title of professional artist but to be honest I think it would be quite boring and we all have multiple roles in our lives.
