So on Monday I shall be meeting with my fellow shop co-tenant to revise and update the shop measurements for each of our areas to ensure that we have a 50:50 distribution of wall and floor space each.
Alongside the decorating I have been doing in my areas this offers a reset moment as we aim for April 12 and reopening.
So I made a map of how the shop is, but until this afternoon I hadn’t put my display furniture into a new arrangement as I like to keep my areas fresh so repeat visitors see a changing way of experiencing my art.
I have moved a set of shelves that block the back of these cubes so I gave pipit my work on this side of the window and the other artist’s work on the other side where they have access to their work.
This section of window display needs more work so that I can exhibit a range of my art items on the window. I like to change the window at least every fortnight as I have so large a range of work. I have some other plans for this window which I will show when they come to fruition.
Turn left as you enter the shop I will have some mini and miniature easel canvases and then the shelves will have a mix of prints / originals (yet to be decided). The wall now shows my logo background colours and will have two framed pieces exhibited.
Now turn around and in the centre I have a browser with a range of my prints and my carousel of greeting cards and printed postcards.
To your right is another wall with my colours. The grey cabinet is an art supplies store for me. On top I have the stepped display for the original postcard series. The unit with 9 sections was bought by a friend who then didn’t use it. On the wall I am looking at some different ideas for exhibiting prints and originals in mounts.
Now head into the left corner as you face the back of the shop.
I am hoping that our old sign can be adjusted to fit at the base of the counter while we sort out a replacement after a case of rotten timber base.
The bottom row of the cards on the counter front are mine. On the left end I have an old suitcase that belonged to one of my grandparents and is used to display the pen sets I sell, which are the same fineliners and markers that I use for my art work. My leaflets about my business are on the counter. When I am on duty I have a screen for serving customers from behind and I will also have a second screen on my drawing board.
Again the logo colour wall around the back window. The scaffold board wall is my main hanging space to exhibit framed work although I have new ideas for this in addition. The furniture I use was originally made to order for my old garden by Lee of Rescue and Restore. The other artist has also had him make their newer units.
Now turn around and you can see my second browser with original artworks in. Some of these are also available as prints and some are only in a unique original piece of art.
Around the displays I will also have samples of my hand drawn wooden boxes in a variety of sizes. I will be adding some more shop custom hats as well as being open to commissions after a busy year of these in 2020.
I will also be wearing my logo pith helmet or will have it on the counter near me. Often I will also be wearing one of my hand drawn boiler suits or bib and brace outfits.
If in Swanage from April 12 onwards on a Monday, Tuesday, or Saturday. Or on a Wednesday that I am on shift. My work is for sale all week but I like to meet my customers if possible and share my love of art.<div class='sharedaddy sd-block sd-like jetpack-likes-widget-wrapper jetpack-likes-widget-unloaded' id='like-post-wrapper-123416164-5034-607e301010d0f' data-src='https://widgets.wp.com/likes/#blog_id=123416164&post_id=5034&origin=andyknillart.com&obj_id=123416164-5034-607e301010d0f' data-name='like-post-frame-123416164-5034-607e301010d0f'><h3 class="sd-title">Like this:</h3><div class='likes-widget-placeholder post-likes-widget-placeholder' style='height: 55px;'><span class='button'><span>Like</span></span> <span class="loading">Loading...</span></div><span class='sd-text-color'></span><a class='sd-link-color'></a></div>
