Made it…Purbeck Art Weeks shop opening
I set myself the difficult target of opening the shop from 10 to 5 on 14/16 days of the art festival in Purbeck. The other 2 days of the 16 in total include me doing a duty as a steward at Rollington Barn, the festivals main exhibition.
Today at 5pm I shut the shop and will not return until Tuesday morning. Thirteen consecutive days has been very tiring and at the end of today like several other days I just have the energy left to return home and sit.
September is my first month in the new shop and has been a good month for meeting friends, welcoming visitors and sharing my new location. Today was a great day with 10 participants for Art for fun. It is always difficult to tell in art weeks when also a shop that opens all year round (will do going forwards) if visitors come across you by chance, seen some publicity, noticed my shop signs in Commercial Road, heard about it from someone else. To be honest it really doesn’t matter to me, the key point is that they now know where I am, what my work is like and that I offer a fort for fun and why.
So, thank you to all my many visitors.
Tomorrow, Sunday 26th I will be wearing the Watersports boiler suit for the first time include some boat details that I haven’t photographed yet, while I am a steward at Rollington Barn.
As a business this has been my most successful months for sales since September 2020, so a great start for the new shop.
Going forwards, the shop will be open on Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29 and Saturday 2 October. Then from October I am going to trial opening on: Tuesday, Wednesday / Friday, Saturday for my four days per week. I will continue to open from 10 to 5 each day. I may offer extra week days open during Autumn half term, this is yet to be confirmed.
