Today’s video clips and lots of sales

Today I made two more videos linked to business. The first was about ‘The heart of swanage’ from Station Road, Swanage and named other local businesses through to my shop including mentions of Tilly Mead and Daisy May Arcade.

The second clip was about my calendar and even an alternative motive to buy – 12 images of mine which could be framed for £9.50.

I sat outside to work today from 09.30 and a Greggs breakfast to about 14.30 when the temperature fell more. I came into the shop to serve buyers of Christmas cards, postcards and a range of art this afternoon. I also drew a piece of local fisherman Will who I have now met after doing art for fun with his family. I see him often out in the bay in his small rowing boat in many weathers and am inspired by his work ethic and to be honest boat handling. I previously sold an original postcard of him, he was aware of it but this time this was a gift from me. I saw him just as I had left the shop so we returned to get it for him. This is what art allows me to do, it’s not just about selling.

This week so far – at last Saturday’s Christmas fair I sold 30 cards.yesterday one customer bought 30 cards. Today I sold 23 cards and postcards and also an A3 and an A4 print.

When people ask what sort of ways should you sell art – I was advised to sell greetings cards of my work – so this month in 5 shop days I have sold 99 cards – I am almost at 5500 card sales and 2000 Santa over Christmas card designs – I have recommended cards to others too. For four years they were my most profitable items, in the last year I have sold more original work which is now my most profitable line as this also links to commissions placed with me.
