A busy one!
As I had set up this morning a group of older teens appeared in Commercial road, I told them about Art for fun not really expecting any success, but heh you have to try.
Next thing we had 8 and then a 9th of a group of 17 and 18year olds drawing and as they did it they got into it – in Swanage as part of a course for their Gold Duke of Edinburgh award.some good chat and surprised looks from passers by at a) number of participants so early in d abut also their ages. The photo below shows four of the group showers off for a powerboat ride next with Pierhead Watersports – using an old sketchbook I was able to show the boat they would be going out in.
The morning went from there and it wasn’t until somewhere around 12.30 or later until I had a quiet patch again. Art for fun was incredibly popular today with 33 takers, the most in a day ever – almost twice yesterdays take up. Here are some examples, we passed 450 participants.
Yes, an amazing day. So alongside the 33 who drew were an additional 36 visitors to the shop who didn’t draw so I was kept busy between chatting to visitors / customers and guiding artists – I was weary at the end of the day from the many conversations but I had an absolutely fabulous day – this is why I do my art and offer Art for Fun as an activity for all.
So now 238 visitors in 5 shop days, over 60 taking part in Art for Fun and today a range of very positive sales.
What will Jubilee Friday bring? I am looking forwards to it with anticipation.
An arts week memory of me being visited ‘in the woods’ in June 2019 in my then new Art for Fun boilersuit that then didn’t have any drawings by school children and is the boilersuit I wore today too.
