Purbeck Art Weeks no. 8 completed

So it’s Monday June 10. I have collected my sold work and cheque from Rollington Barn. The art weeks are done for another year. On a personal note I usually suffer a crisis of confidence in the first few days and then again at the end of the fortnight. It’s here again.

I sold two original boxes. My display clearly doesn’t appeal and of course includes pieces that are for exhibition only too. Maybe a rethink going forwards?

Three prints sold and one customer who came to the studio for a print but actually left with the original piece which I am happy about. Over 30 cards sold too.

At this time of my art year I can be happy that I covered my costs at Rollington with some extra return. When I was there I had some extra discussions around art for fun, the ‘Flooding Swanage with art’ project and drawing on clothes and pith helmets. However, even though my style is distinctive it is not necessarily as saleable. Depends of course what I am trying to get out of my art.

Art for fun over the two weeks saw 169 sessions which is very please sing – most of course during the half term week.

Next…

A commission to draw in the next month. Three consecutive guest artists booked in. Carnival week and art for fun as an official activity, Heart of Swanage campaign ongoing.

Today – a dip in mood and energy but I am sure to recoup and come out of it. No other immediate plans except new shirts I am drawing to wear for Carnival.

I do want to start experimenting with some linocutting in my quieter studio time but this maybe a project for myself rather than things to try and sell which brings a pressure of its own with it.
