Into May…
A new month, Purbeck Art Weeks 2025 is closer, we have now distributed about 1000 brochures in the town. I have framed and prepared labels for my three main pieces. The winter sun trousers have three of four leg sides drawn. 8 pieces, a mix of originals and prints are labelled and priced ready to go to Rollington Barn. There is a distinct boating theme in my portfolio this year with some variation as none of my four main pieces have had prints or cards made. I have stickers ready for the card selection once made, which will also link to stock levels at the shop.
A quiet week with a few more art for fun today with three returning families who visit regularly. Cards continue to be the main sellers and hand drawn bags popular as always with some gasps at how quickly I sketch for them and what is produced.
Guest artist for April never really came off so I put up some of my original A3 sketches from 2015/6 when I had started drawing for mindfulness and joined Urban Sketching groups in London, Cambridge and own trips out in Essex and London. A reminder to me of how I would just seek a view, sit and draw.

Also at a time when if you had told me what I would be doing 10 years later I would not have believed you.
So the next three weeks in the run up to PAW 2025 will include finishing and sealing the trousers I am working on. A final selection of cards for initial display. Then work hand in the week before.
On the Friday before the art week’s launch we have the private view evening which is preceded by the schools programme exhibition lunch and I am offering Art for Fun again with Anne’s support.
Today, I couldn’t focus on the trousers so I just drew some small art for fun pieces – one of which, an ice cream cone was gifted to one of the art for fun participants. Sometimes, I want to be creative but detail is too much and it was good to just mess about.
I will post about my selected pieces and accompanying pieces prior to Purbeck Art Weeks starting on May 24. We will see how the fortnight goes especially as I have my advert in the brochure – will it bring anymore visitors to the shop? Only time will tell.
