Andy Knill Art News Update 4th May

A new month and one with so much art potential ahead. In 23 days I shall be an Open Studio within the Purbeck Art Weeks programme. Number 22, sat in and around our home drawing, painting, taking photographs and hopefully greeting visitors and maybe selling some of my work too.

I am not ready yet but I feel really calm as well. I have plenty of cards to sell. I have my fine art and photography prints ready. I have bought some blank canvases to work on and before the start I will buy some spare frames, and probably more canvases.

My Purbeck wall/ New wall old wall original is still in Artcubed, L’Artishe gallery, High Street, Swanage until PAW commences. It was away for a while for reframing and its price has been adjusted by the Gallery to adjust for the framing cost. It is still available for £125. This is my first ever exhibition piece.

I have collected my piece for Etches Museum PAW exhibition that runs from 20th May to June 11th in Kimmeridge. A larger original at A3 size, it is pen and ink with coloured pencils and will cost £150. There is a viewing evening on Saturday 20th May, if interested please contact me at andy.knill@gmail.com for further details.

I will be collecting  my Verges piece for RSPB Arne / PAW exhibition soon. This is another mixed media piece at A3 size and will be for sale for £150. It depicts wild flower Verges against a Dorset drystone wall and rolling agricultural rural landscape. Further details of the exhibition dates in next week’s news update.

At Art Workshop, Commercial Road, Swanage I have been developing pieces in acrylics. One – Stormy Buoy will be available. Price tbc. It is painted directly onto cardboard and so will be a much cheaper original than my framed works. I have two coastal scenes – Stormy Ballard Down and Storm Cloud over Swanage Pier which are on canvases and which I will sell from my Open Studio. Prices tbc.

In the Open Studio I will be exhibiting some of my older mobile phone photographic photo canvases which will retail at £100 each. I will have my collection of fine art prints, photographic prints and new canvas originals including my work from Art Workshop Wednesday group.

Yesterday my new magical piece of hardware arrived, a “Square” card reader which will now enable me to take card payments for purchases in addition to cash payments. Lucy Tidbury uses one in her “Lucy’s Farm” shop in Swanage off Commercial Road, opposite my new regular haunt “Java Coffee House”.

So five exhibitions in four months as an artist, I am very proud of my achievements so far. I will also be at the Craft Fair at St Edwards RC hall this Saturday 6th May in Rempstone Road, Swanage. I will be selling prints and cards and can also be approached about commissions. I am told that the “Swanage Collection” of four cards are selling in the TiC (Tourist Information Centre) on Shore Road, Swanage which has now entered its summer season pedestrian status. The centre are also now stocking cards by Gina Marshall too.

So, a News Update with lots of information. Apologies to regular readers as there is a lot of repetition as projects develop. Feedback is always very welcome about what I am doing, how I go about it as well as my art and photography itself.

Remember this started as a wellbeing process for my mental health issues and I am always willing to talk to others about this aspect of my art too.
Thanks for reading

AndyKnillArt News Update 23 March

So, all cards printed and stock held by me and Swanage Tourist Office. I have also been asked to sketch the Art Workshop in Swanage for some charity flyers. Today I submitted and had a new piece accepted for the PAW exhibition that will run at The Etches Collection, Kimmeridge from 20 May to 11 June. Next piece to work on will be a piece for Verges exhibition also linked to PAW.

I attended a sketchbook workshop on Sunday 19 March which generated a number of ideas to investigate further. Stormy skies seen at Burton Bradstock on Tuesday afternoon has inspired the start of an acrylic piece – my first complete painting at the Art workshop Wednesday group I am currently doing. A second piece has started which will link to photos taken at home with various hares.

I am also working on a logo design. The week has seen orders placed for new art supplies and a wire carousel to display my cards in at events. My creativity is being tested as I come up with other ideas which I can pitch to local people, clubs and businesses for cards and / or prints.

A busy week with several successful outcomes. There are photos of all pieces on he Facebook page, they are blue tinted as the pictures were taken through the cellophane wrappers. A new page is to be created on this site asap with images of all collections , pricing and how to order.

I am hoping that March going into April can see a “spring” in sales.
All feedback gratefully received.

Andy
