Low key – colouring on or shading
Very aware of the need to relax and switch off especially in lockdown if you are unable to go to work I set up a group on Facebook called ‘Art for fun’ through my shop Facebook account.
The background to encourage people to have a go at art as a way of diverting their thoughts, to enjoy, perhaps to be a big kid. I have some items to get on with now and am doing preparation work for that but I wanted to do something art based yesterday and today.
I bought a Dorset colouring book a while ago but have done little with it except for a couple of pictures. So yesterday I sat with a set of colour pencils and a fineliner to complete a piece of windsurfers I had started previously.

Then I did another based on Portland Bill which is not the most colourful place except for the lighthouse’s red band.

Then I approached the next picture of the local steam heritage railway and Corfe Castle. I chose the source of light and shaded the picture using cross hatching and pen shading.

Finally and finished today I used ‘dotting’ in a piece of an ammonite based on the style of drawing I did in first and second year labs of my degree on palaeontology units (fossils), but in those days you didn’t have access to easy to use fineliners.

So I enjoyed practising skills but also completing some pictures.
