One week, second Wednesday
So the shop has been open for a week and in less than two weeks I have transferred all my sthop furniture to my new premises. Also a month of pre advertising has made a big difference as most people who come specifically to see me or my work already know where to find me.

Outside the shop the new area available to use for Art for a fun is much more spacious than previously and has been taken up as an activity by several people already.
One of the issues of being at he end of a section of pedestrianised road is being seen by people entering from the other end. The last two days I have used two of my hand drawn road signs to direct people towards me or at least pique their interest. When I am sat outside set up for Art for Fun, I have the plank sign and others to help make my presence known as well as my own attire with the pith helmet and if not too warm a boilersuit.

Today my next signage arrived. A teardrop two sided flag that protrudes from the front of the shop and can be read be people approaching. It can be outside in wet or dry weather but only when I am there. A sign on the front of the shop would not be seen by many. Notices and posters in the front window also tell passers by what the shop is when I am closed.

In summary, a great start for a new business. The next fortnight is important as Purbeck Art Weeks 2021 (PAW21) starts on Saturday and runs for 16 days. The shop is mentioned in details with my cards at Rollington Barn. This year I have entered as a Rollington artist so that I have a board of my pieces on exhibition so I look forward to seeing what reaction / sales I get from this. It is also a different time of year for the arts festival so we need to see what the attendance from visitors is like. When I am on duty at Rollington I will dress as AndyKnillArt as it is all useful publicity. As a step up for the event and the second event also being the Planet Purbeck festival which I am participating in as hosting an event – art for fun and donated work to the art auction. I will have the shop open from 10 to 5 on Sat 11, Closed Sun 12, open from 10 to 5 from Monday 13 to Saturday 25 and then closed on Sunday 26 – this follows the pattern I set when running an Open studio in PAW17, 18 & 19 allowing visitors maximum chances to meet me, see me developing new work and have a go too.
Hope to see some of you during PAW 21.
