…and it’s Sunday (again)…
This morning as my morning post (last post) said I was feeling weary, today has been a day with much chat, some great visitors, some unexpected rain and more fabulous sales.
So this morning some card sales were followed by a pause while I prepped the card machine and suddenly a print was chosen too – a great start.
Next two art for fun youngsters who had joined in with friends last Saturday came for a second go and enjoyed themselves.
More card sales and then this afternoon, a couple who had visited Rollington Barn came to see the shopand left with an A3 print of Golden Horizon. I now find myself one print sale away from a business grand total of 200 print sales, let’s see when we can reach that total.
Card sales have continued to be encouraging at both the shop and Rollington Barn and I may reach a business brand total of 5000 card sales before the end of PAW21 – these figures (prints and cards) would never have figured in any thoughts when I started seeing if my art would sell back in 2017.
The thing about meeting new visitors / customers daily and talking about how I came to be an artist it makes me think back and reflect on how far things have come. My art does sell, so that first question continues to be answered on an almost daily basis. My sales target each year is still to ‘sell some art’, admittedly my base costs have risen with rent / bills to cover so officially now I need to ‘sell £3000+ art a year’ and I do, I don’t even worry that this isn’t possible, how far things have changed. Having a business that is also a hobby and therapy that doesn’t have to earn me a living is ideal for me as there is no pressure. The new shop set up sees me just being able to focus on my art and doing things the way I want to and people are picking up on that joy and relaxed approachability.
So looking forward, going into the new week I will be open from Monday 20th to Saturday 25th each day from 10 to 5. On Sunday 26th I will do my second Rollington Barn duty. My outfit this time will be the Watersports boilersuit which will have had even more added to it by then and of course the logo pith helmet.
This week also includes the inaugural Planet Purbeck Festival and throughout the week I will hope to be able to welcome more Art for a fun participants (25 so far this month). Art for fun will continue all year round, it just has a focus with Purbeck Art Weeks and Planet Purbeck Festival this week.
Oh, and I did some more drawing today – pen and ink work developing slowly and carefully my new wooden box which is going to feature ‘Views from my kayak‘ of Swanage Bay. Today I continued the first piece – Swanage pier.
