Sketch and notice sort of day off
Today had different things booked and I saw an opportunity to visit South Coast Makers Market in Bobbys in Bournemouth. Some morning stress linked to furniture moving for electrical and decorator work tomorrow. So a joint trip to Bournemouth- almost knocked out of kilter as an RTC accident investigation caused long tailback on the A35. We had less time but still got lunch, visited the market floor, saw parts of Bournemouth centre that I have never drive into before so a success rescued.
Bobbys is a reuse of the old Debenhams department store in Central Bournemouth. The ground floor is beauty counters, didn’t look at that I admit. The first floor is being used for artisan events and this is where we were headed. I wanted to meet LucanArt who I have chatted with on Instagram. We managed this and I bought two coastal view postcards, Lucan does lots of mural work which I admire. I recognised some other artists that I have seen on IG too.
A key feature for us was the Bobbys cafe which is being run by Ashley who we know from the fabulous Down the Beach cafe on Swanage seafront in the summer. We enjoyed roast pork and apple sandwich-ey lunch – gorgeous as always. Ashley was pleased to see us and I sketched him and presented him with the picture.

We then had to make our way back to Swanage as Anne had an extra ladies Panto rehearsal. We will return to see the Art gallery on the 2nd floor. we pooped into the valley gardens quickly where the winter Christmas trees are being set up.

We came back the coastal route through the avenues of old trees and properties converted to apartments and then through Sandbanks. By the harbour he breezy conditions meant there were lots of windsurfers, kite wing users and a little kite surfing – I wondered if kitewings were superseding kite surfers. While waiting to depart in the chain ferry we saw a large group of kite surfers off Shell Bay on the Purbeck side of the harbour entrance – it was fabulous to watch and I took quite a few photos with my camera.
Anne got to her rehearsal on time and I left her the car and I walked in to town taking more photos of autumn leaves and then the blustery conditions of the sea and bay. Refreshments at Chococo and a walk out to Peveril Point – lots of looks and comments about being out in the conditions in shorts – but my top half was well wrapped up.

Then home after my walk for a rest. Some evening tv and then blogging. Tomorrow off to collect my latest print and cards order.
