Purbeck Art Weeks 2024
A jump again from April to late May.
Birthday Art for Fun
This was a great success with 41 people doing art for fun. Cake was given out to adults and sweets to children. A few weeks later my siblings came to visit for their own Art for Fun and a surprise appearance by my sister Liz from New Zealand.

The Heart of Swanage
The project continues. We have had two offers of help which we have taken up. We have a new A5 double sided flyer ready to go but have not got all monies yet from the businesses so our pre summer release is on hold.

Meanwhile we are trying to get consent from adjacent landlords to erect signage as you enter our area – not a simple task. I have agreed to be a carnival programme activity at the shop and this also secured us an advert in the programme.
I am working in discovering more about the history of our little rea nd have been given some photos and some people to follow up with.
Our website is now live nd some businesses have started to add their listings. We will continue to encourage this s we know that without content it won’t gain a following.
Guest Artist slot
Nabz art has finished her April slot, some feedback verbally but no sales. In May it is my work until June 9 and end of the ArtWeeks. From end of PAW for June it will be Allie Hyett following her first involvement in Purbeck Art Weeks. July is Keleigh Snelgrove and August Sian O’Neill.
Purbeck Art Weeks
Well I finished my six original pieces. I am exhibiting:
– original canvas of ‘Storm Ciarán damaged my art’
– framed ‘Pondfield Cove, Worbarrow Tout’
– wooden hexagonal box – ‘ Human powered watersports’ (sold 27 May)
– ‘South Island, New Zealand’ trousers to complete last years holiday memories – over 60 drawings on this year’s (NFS)
– Pith helmet – ‘My fishy hat’ inspired by January visit to the Oceanarium, Bournemouth.
– Rowing panel (mark 2) on loan from Dorset Coast Forum (NFS)
Prints include recent pieces post PAW 2023 – Corfe Castle from Kingston and Boats at Rest.
Three days in and despite my own mental health dip whenever I find myself comparing to others I have had a good start in sales at Rollington.
Anne and I did Art for Fun as a standing activity for the PYA launch on Friday afternoon and hosted 32 primary school pupils from a variety of local schools. Saturday at the shop despite a beach weather day saw 22 more doing art for fun. Two days off Inc a Rollington duty and this week back in the shop on my usual days.
