November starts quietly
So, the chain ferry from Studland to Sandbanks is off for its biannual service and there are roadworks in Sandford on the A351 to Swanage – the town is quieter.
This month I am drawing daily challenges for #Farmvember 2024 that I started doing last year and over the last two shop days I have drawn a new 15 x 15 cm piece titled ‘Autumn Foliage’ inspired by a photo took at RSPBArne reserve where we went for walk on Monday.

I did have some visitors and customers today including selling my Boatober day 15 piece from last month. But it’s a quiet day after enjoying the Wednesday community lunch at The Loft Community Centre just near the shop.

Thoughts running through my head included, how to price the new Autumn piece above. Some research on some other local artists, asking a friend who is an artist made me consider do I need to revise my pricing structure – an ongoing dilemma. I picked a price point for the piece at £50 as my A4 originals now with detail sell for £150 or more.
Ideas included should I label / categorise my or as the ‘Introduction to art’ range to include the A6 originals, bookmarks, greetings cards and postcards. Then a second range of ‘AndyKnillArt / My Art’ which allows for prices that are what I normally charge now or more for prints and other original art pieces. I didn’t come to any decisions.
I then decided after some procrastination to write out some new labels for pieces exhibited to include the ‘original art’ or ‘reproduction art’ and clearer and larger text so hopefully the details are easier to read.

In the end quite a constructive day. This afternoon once home I also did or started some editing on my online shop which I had mothballed – if I can find a way of structuring it that might work then I will see if before next domain and subscription I can get it to work for me having never really got there.
How the mind wanders… there’s also the tidying of my storage areas and finding exactly what I have in donated card / paper stock etc and what can be disposed of to make the shop a little less packed.
