Ok, the shop didn’t open until Monday 15th but thank you to all the visitors and customers in the shop in just over two weeks. I can say without any exaggeration that this has been a good month for AndyKnillArt. No, earnings are not at Purbeck Artisan Weeks of 2018 and 2019 levels but a good amount has been sold including a range of original items from £5 to £200 each.
I have created a number of new pieces ranging from the new logo’ed hand drawn pith helmet and now developing logo overalls as well. Original pieces have ranged from the wooden box above to a couple of local scene treasure chests and a commissioned Undersea life box commission. More small easel canvases and I am starting to develop a series of drawings based around Swanage Sailing Club.
I have started to move and change my displays in the shop and in fact left it in a new arrangement for July when I left the shop today. As all my work is now identified using my own logo based labels, there is a clearer sense of which is my collection. There is more to come and of course this links into my developing experience as a shopkeeper. Also when I am on duty for the foreseeable future there are my signs about the measures I am taking to be Covid-19 safe. I have also registered with the “We’re good to go” scheme under Tourism England so that visitors can see that I am making preparations that match national standards.
Oh yes and then there is another new adventure…
My own online shop organised through Square with whom I take my card payments. I thought the domain”AndyKnillArt.shop” was clear what it is for. Since Sunday 28th when the shop went live I am continuing to add products.
Alongside this is a lot of active use of Instagram and Facebook postings.
Enough for now…yes a busy fortnight and one to build on as the season moves on into July and more easing of the lockdown nationally.
