Some new inspirations – #notice

When I was teaching I joined a movement in my last few years called #teacher5aday which aimed to focus on wellbeing for teachers. #Notice was about taking a little bit of time to observe what’s going on around you, it could use any of your five senses.

As an artist I now find myself looking at my surroundings differently from how I used to. I was mainly a geography teacher so I looked at landscapes or towns and worked out how they came to be, what would be involved. As an artist I look for view points, light and shade, features to pick out.

Today I took a few photos that are the sort of jock phone snaps that I feel are likely to inspire new artworks at some point in the future. What inspires you?

The colour of the rainbow against the subdued sky
Water craft and scale plus the background of the Isle of Wight
The bay but from a higher viewpoint adding new angles and able to see features that lie behind others.
