Tree detail

As I have learnt to draw and improved my technique I became conscious of different things that could be drawn better and then worked on this as a skill.

Trees were one of the aspects I worked on as there are many in the Purbeck landscape? I am very keen on trees in winter with their shapes of trunks, branches and any foliage left.

am going to share a range of work from 2015 through to today to show my work and you can decide if you think I have developed my skills or not.

June 2015, this was from my imagination in an activity space in the Turbine Hall, Tate Modern
2016 from a photo of a tree stepmom by the River a helmet using my pen and ink drawing skills
2016 – view of Parker’s Piece, Cambridge which became one of my early pen and ink card designs in 2017
2017 – Winter Sunset, these were detailed branches for me at the time and always one of the pieces that made me think I Need to do better.
2018 winter snow. This was a sign that things had improved and this remains a popular drawing.
Reflections and looking upstream from Wareham Boat Hire 2019 – much more detail of trees in leaf.
2019 – this stump caught my eye on a walk in RSPB Arne, again the initial pen and ink drawing of the detail pleased me.
2020 view from the Rest and Admire bench on the way up to Durlston Castle and drawn onto a wooden box, this sold very quickly and is a view I want to use in more work
2021 Detail of birch trees drawn in commission that I completed today

Please comment on what you think of the pieces and any progression you see in my work or not of course.
