Having fun with art
So, yesterday I drew two A6 pieces while visiting Lulworth Cove. The lunchtime piece of “Lulworth Cove (W)” went straight onto the original art postcard stand today without any alterations
The second piece had colour added then joined it. Later in the afternoon when two other cards sold they were then moved up onto the display square spaces.
So sketching can mean a piece goes on sale if I think it is of a standard that I am comfortable with selling.
Another example of fun today was to offer a distraction activity, actually done by more adults than children – the “I spy creatures” using the “jungle” and “sealife” wip hats.
Today, I worked on my last commission and added extra detail, I then sent a photo to the client and we agreed later on what I still need to add – communication is key with commissions.
I was also given a birthday card commission on Wednesday which I started brainstorming some possible design ideas for today but I need a faster internet connection to add to this which I will do so it can be drawn by end of Wednesday shop shift at latest.
I also just did some sketching some ideas in my head to pass the time when there was a lull in customers. This was truly art for fun and I need to keep doing this as it is why I started keeping my sketches / art prior to starting to see if my art would sell four years ago.
Another fun thing today was seeing visitors returning, that they bought work was nice too, but seeing familiar faces even allowing for masks is one of the bonuses of being in business longer.
