Noticing from the water
Today is Sunday – club racing day at Swanage Sailing club, this season I am trying to sail three times a week to improve my sailing and become more independent. So today I was sailing a single handed boat an RS Feva. I have used it 3 or 4 times now and find it more comfortable than the Pico I learnt in last season. I sailed it at first with just the mainsail but today for the second time I used the jib too.

A day with light winds and a breeze that was very changeable in terms of direction. I completed three laps of today’s course and the race – a new first in a single handed boat.I didn’t bang my head, nor did I capsize. All improvements.

While sailing and beforehand I took some photos with my phone but also during the race practised noticing things, whether it be bubbles behind the rudder indicating that I was moving, the sail telltales to tell me if I was achieving optimal flow of air over the sails, where I was and where I could expect gusts of wind based on the local geography.
No direct art from today but all is building a knowledge of sailing and an understanding I can share in sailing pieces in the future.
